We Buy Local. You Eat Fresh. And Sustainable. At Elk Creek Café + Aleworks we are committed to community, health, + sustainability. We source as many of the ingredients for our Nouveau Dutchie Cuisine™ as possible from local + sustainable farms. At present, all of the burger, chicken, cheese and most of the beef + eggs we serve are raised on local pasture. All the pork + trout come from local sustainable farms. Even our popular Alaskan Salmon is wild-caught by local fisherfolk. We get 6 weekly shares of vegetables from our valued partners at Tait Farm Community Harvest and buy as much seasonal produce as we can from local farmers. Our breads + buns come from Gemelli Bakery in State College. We get dry beans, flour, oils, organic juices + natural sodas from Frankferd Farms Foods of western PA. We bake our own desserts on premise and the coffee we serve is Organic + Fair Trade. All our fryer oil goes into Smedley's biodiesel production. All our kitchen waste goes into Kathy + Dan critters and compost. All the glass, plastic, metal, paper + cardboard generated in our operation goes into the recycling bin. Much of our thinking goes into making Elk Creek a Zero-Waste operation.
